Class times, cancellations, and rescheduling:
Class times available are on weekends only at this time.
Horse Riding is an outdoor sport and depends a lot on weather. Classes get canceled and rescheduled quite often due to rain and wet grounds. You will get text message the day of or day before on possible changes in class times or cancelation. If the proposed time does not work, it’s okay. We try to make it up during the week day or just do it another weekend.
What to wear and bring:
Closed toed shoes (boots or tennis shoes) are required. You can buy some nice riding boots at Cavender's, tractor supply, or online. When buying boots, make sure you are buying something that has some heel. A heel is needed so that their foot does not go too far into the stirrup and is used to command the horse. Also, make sure the shoe has a tougher material surface in case the horse steps on the kids’ feet.
We recommend wearing jeans (I don’t recommend nylon). On cold days, gloves and jackets should also be brought.
Riding Helmets. Make sure to try the helmet before buying, because sizes can be tricky. The size also depends on their hair (in a ponytail or not). Tractor supply sells them for a reasonable price.
You will need some type of drink to get you through the lesson. As the (in)famous Texas summer hits, it gets hot and kids will get very thirsty. The summer schedule will be different when we get into 90+ weather.
For cold weather, make sure kids are dressed in warm jackets and have gloves. Our open ground feels much cooler and chilly.
Parents...
You guys are welcome to hangout and watch the kids. You can bring camping chairs, stake out, and relax.
